While smoky eyes are a staple of most red carpet looks, many women may be intimidated by the application - after all, with all the shading and layering, it's easy to get confused. But, if you break the process down into five simple steps, creating a perfect smoky eye is totally doable.
According to The Examiner, begin by covering your lids with a primer to keep shadow from creasing. Once the primer has dried, dust a shimmery base shadow across your lids from lash line to crease.
To add contour, select a pigment that is darker than the base and apply it below the crease, starting at the lash line and blending as you move up the lid.
For extra emphasis, rim your upper lash line with dark-colored liner, making the line thicker as you reach the outer corner of your eyes. Draw a solid line along your lower lash line as well, blending the liner into your lashes, and top it with a bit of dark eyeshadow to create a smoky look.
"You'll want to apply a few coats of mascara so lashes are luscious," the news source reports. "Don't forget to apply your mascara to the backside of your lashes as well. This will help add some plump."
