Blinc Goes Green
Let’s take a breath. Look at things a little differently.
When everything slowed down during the pandemic, we realized how much we all needed a break. It wasn’t hard to notice that the Earth needed one too. When we all stayed inside, smog lifted, emissions fell, animals roamed freer. We can’t wait to back to a new normal, but we’re also committed to honoring the refreshing changes we’ve seen happening around us. That’s why we’ve decided to be part of the solution and not the problem.
Providing problem-free beauty products has always been part of the Blinc mission. We realized we had to take this problem-solving a step further, making sustainability part of long-term philosophy. We’re proud to have taken our first steps to make Blinc greener and embark on the journey of becoming one of many brands that are making a conscious choice to lead the way in promoting responsible, ethical and sustainable beauty. Blinc has always been a brand that makes women feel good about themselves, and now we’ll be a brand that makes them feel good about their choice at the shelf.
It won’t be easy. Our commitment to making the highest-quality cosmetics for our customers means we’ll be finding the safest, smartest updates that deliver real change while maintaining Blinc’s high standards. Our vision for a greener Blinc includes ethical ingredient sourcing, using natural materials (or recycled materials when natural isn’t possible) that are sustainable, and optimizing our containers for recycling when you’re done with them. There is no perfect path to sustainable beauty, but we’re committed to finding the balance and striking the compromises that allows us to make outstanding products that are kinder to the environment.
Take a look at these initial steps Blinc is taking to make sure we’re treating the Earth like we treat our customers:
- Forest Stewardship Certification
We’re using Forest Stewardship Certified paper for all of our product containers, meaning all of the paper comes from reclaimed materials. The Forest Stewardship Certification is considered the gold standard designation for wood harvested from forests that are responsibly managed, socially beneficial to workers and local people, environmentally conscious for biodiversity and ecosystems, and economically viable. By making this decision, Blinc is helping to protect, restore, and conserve natural forests. Using Forest Stewardship Certified paper also reduces the number of trees harvested, aids in regeneration of harvested trees, and maintains and improves soil structure and fertility.
We’re moving away from aluminum cased components as mixed materials are harder to recycle and unfortunately mostly end up in landfills. Instead, we are moving towards PCR plastics which are made from post-consumer resins. Reusing plastics to make PCR plastics is environmentally friendly on many levels. It is a waste-reducing process that requires less water consumption, fossil fuels, and energy.
We thank you so much for your continued support as you begin to notice these changes in our product line. If you have any questions or comments, we would love to hear from you.
